Florida boasts one of the largest concentrations of freshwater springs in the world — almost 400 total — and remarkably, nearly 200 of those are located within the Suwannee Basin.  There are 18 "first-magnitude" springs in North Florida, so classified because they discharge 100 cubic feet of water per second. That's a mind-boggling 64 million or more gallons of water per day! No wonder Levy County's numerous springs are one of
its most popular destinations for both serious scuba divers and those who just want to swim or snorkel in the crystal clear waters.

Charming towns, such as the historic fishing village of Cedar Key and  Williston, well-known for its excellent peanut crop, anchor the county. Agriculture remains a major part of the economy.

Bronson
The county seat, Bronson is located on Alternate Highway 27 between Williston and Chiefland.

Rich in history, this island fishing village is situated on the Gulf Coast and is an inviting getaway and recreation destination that also features popular seafood festivals, art shows & small boat gatherings.

Chiefland

Inglis
Close to neighboring Yankeetown, Inglis lies along the Withlacoochee River as it makes its way to the Gulf of Mexico.  The area is popular with freshwater and saltwater fishermen.
 
Otter Creek
This tucked away town, named for the neighboring creek, lies in an area known for its hunting and fishing opportunities.

Yankeetown
A close neighbor to Inglis, Yankeetown is located on the Withlacoochee River on the north Gulf Coast and boasts some of the best salt and fresh water fishing in the country.  Yankeetown is also home to Punkin Island on County Road 40 where the 1961 Elvis Presley movie "Follow That Dream" was filmed.
